Bruce Sons is led by Santa Barbara County deputies through the courtyard to his hearing at the Santa Barbara Superior Court in Santa Maria on Feb. 6. Sons was convicted of murder in 1994 for killing a California Highway Patrol officer. Sons' conviction was overturned and this is his third re-trial.
