It's a rare treat for Californian photographers when we get to photograph a football game in daylight, and you always want to take advantage of the opportunity and come back with a strong photo. When umpire Mike Ross got run over by Bakersfield College running back Le'Andre Matthews, all it took was one look at the camera's LCD screen (digital cameras are so cool!) and I knew I had the next day's photo from this game against Fullerton on Nov. 18. I know most of the officials because I shoot a lot of sports, but I don't know Ross. I showed the shot to another official whom I know, and he was delighted, saying that Ross was in for a lot of ribbing from his officiating brethren.
